A Swami is a Hindu monk. Swami Suddhanandaji belongs to the traditional
lineage of the great Hindu master Swami SHIVANANDA. He followed the teachings
of Swami Shivanandaji's students, the swamis Chinmayanandaji and Dayanandaji.
Swami is the head of three monasteries or ashrams in the southern & eastern
parts of India among which the main one is located in Madras.
Since 1975, he has been teaching " Self-knowledge" to most varied
audiences - believers and non-believers, primary & secondary schools pupils,
students, teachers, professionals- all over India as well as in western,
southern and far eastern countries-.
His teaching is not confessional but universal and beyond every religion
or belief : it aims at introducing the human being to the knowledge of what is
unchanging and eternal in him/her. Thus, the existence of a dimension of
ourselves that we are unaware of but that we unconsciously aspire to wake up to,
is revealed to us.
Besides, Swamiji has set up the " Suddhananda Foundation for
Self-Knowledge ", called SAMVIT SAGAR TRUST in Madras. This foundation has been
running since 1985. Its only aim is to spread, among human beings, the
awareness of the need to open up to "Self-Knowledge". Thus, everyone will be
able to discover happiness and fulfilment, immediately, in one's life.
At the same time, primary and secondary schools have been set up & are
expanding under Swami Suddhanandaji's guidance. In these schools, the
traditional curriculums are being taught to the pupils together with
"Self-Knowledge" . In this way, the teaching aims at contributing to the full
growth of all the human potentialities.
Thanks to his help and inspiration, a polytecnic institute is open near Cuttack, in Orissa. Suddhananda Foundation for Self-Knowledge :
